Hi Families!

Hooray for a 3 day weekend! While the students are home this weekend, please talk to them about reading. I have reminded the students that they are supposed to be reading at least 90 mintues a day. Along with reading 90 mintues a day, I have talked to the students about practicing their reading fluency. It's extremely important that the studnets practice reading fluently outside of school. The students can practice by reading out loud to their brothers and sisters, pets, parents, friends, etc. When the students read silently, they are not aware of the reading mistakes that they make compared to when they read out loud. Not only are they aware of the reading mistakes that they make when they read out loud, they are also aware if they are reading with expression, if they are reading clearly and smoothly, and pausing while they read.
