Hi Families!
We are finally getting back into the swing of things here at Van Allen in team 4. Along with getting back into the swing of things, we are also getting to know our SMARTboard! Our SMARTboard is up and running and I feel that the students really enjoy having one in the classroom. I know I do!
This week in guided reading, the students have new groups and each group is starting a novel. Also, the students are completing their book of the month club this Friday. Please ask your child about their book of the month.
In science, we are finishing up the floating and sinking unit. Our next unit will be magnets and motors. Our class willn not start magnets and motors for a few weeks and while we are waiting for the science kit, I will be teaching some health lessons.
In social studies, we are learning about the 13 colonies. To go along with our social studies unit, we are reading a story in reading called, "And Then What Happened..Paul Revere."
I received an email about 7th grade registration for the 6th graders. The Van Allen meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 8th, at 8:30 AM (at Van Allen). Also, at 6:00 PM Tuesday, Feb. 15th, there will be a parent informational meeting at North Central for parents who are unable to attend the elementary meeting. Please let me know if you have any questions.
On Friday, January 28th, from 6:30-8:30 PM, Van Allen will host it's 3rd annual Dance Marathon. It's a great event and I hope all of you can make it!
