On Monday, I introduced the students to a new activity called the book of the month. Each month, the students will pick a just right book for them that is also challenging. They will split their book into 4 equal parts. For this week, they are going to read the first part and after they are done reading the first part they have an assignment. The assignment this week is to write a paragraph describing the setting, and the another paragraph (or more) describing a character's appearance and personality. I will score the students' assignments weekly. Their assignment is due to me at the end of the day Friday. The expectation is that everyone will turn in an assignment. The purpose of this activity is to challenge the students in their reading and to get them thinking about what they read. If you have any questions, please email me. Thanks!
