On Monday we took the spelling pre-test. The words for this week are all review. If your child got all 30 spelling words correct on Monday, they will not have to take the test on Friday. Please ask your child how they did. In science today, we watched a video on buoyancy and then this afternoon we were able to take the knowledge from the video and use it in the science experiment. In language arts today, we started reader's theater. The play that the 6th graders are working on is a Native American Cinderella story. The 5th graders are working on a Native American legend. Both plays were well with our social studies unit. Next Tuesday is the last day before break and it is also the day that we are going to celebrate our winter party.
During the winter party the students will be making their own gingerbread houses. For the houses, I am going to provide the plates, spoons, frosting, and graham crackers. In order to decorate the houses with candy, I am asking families for donations. Anything will be greatly appreciated! Tomorrow, the students will brainstorm a list of food items that can be used to decorate our houses. It should be a great time!
