Happy Friday Van Allen families! It was great getting back into the swing of things after ITBS week. However, once again, we have another crazy, fun filled week ahead of us. Next week the 6th graders are going to School of the Wild. I am not attending School of the Wild, but Mrs. Murgia and Ms. Kreinbring will be there. Students are expected to act responsibly and respectfully, just like at school. Ms. Kreinbring and Mrs. Murgia will keep me updated on how things are going everyday. Since I am not with the 6th grade students, I will be back at Van Allen with the 5th grade students. We have an eventful week ahead of us too. I want to say thank you to all of the support that you have provided to team 4. It is greatly appreciated!
Next week, is the annual Van Allen Halloween parade and Halloween classroom parties. Below is an announcement from Mrs. Dixon.
HALLOWEEN PARADE
Van Allen Elementary is having a parade! Students will be participating in a parade of costumes through the school beginning at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 29t. Since this is such an exciting time, we are asking that all parents/guardians help us keep this celebration safe, simple, and fun for all. You can help us make this day great by following these guidelines:
Students should bring their costumes to school in their backpack. Please do not allow your children to bring or wear face paint to school as this can become distracting and be time consuming when applying. In addition, please send costumes with your children that are easy to put on and take off without assistance.
Weapons or violent costume parts or toys are not allowed by district and school regulations. Also do not send horror costumes, such as “Scream” which involve blood. Many younger students become frightened, and we want everybody to enjoy the day. Students with such costumes may be asked not to participate.
Just a reminder that conferences are coming up in November. I have sent home sign up sheets with students that do not have a conference time set up yet. If your child has one, please fill it out and have them bring it back as soon as possible. I will be sending home a reminder letter with the day and time that you have signed up for. If something has come up and that time does not work, please let me know as soon as possible.
Our science unit, microworlds, ended this week. Our next science unit that will start the first week in November is the floating and sinking unit.
The students are in the final editing stages for their personal narrative. They have been working so hard on them and I can not wait to share them with you at conferences.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email me.
Have a great weekend and go HAWKEYES!
Ms. Erceg
