Newsletter - Friday, September 10, 2010

September 10, 2010

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Every Friday I will post the newsletter on our class blog. To find the newsletters on the blog, you need to look for the heading on the bottom right hand side that says blog archive. Under the blog archive, there will be subheading titled newsletters. Each newsletter will be dated for your convenience. So if you forget to read one, you can always look on the blog, under the blog archive and find the one that you missed.

I am posting the newsletters on the blog so our class can help the environment and save paper. However, I do understand that some families do not have access to the internet. For those families, I will send home a paper copy. Please let me know if you need a paper copy. Otherwise, please check out our blog daily or weekly. I am still in the process of updating the website, but the students have started to put a blog post up for everyday. The website address is www.mserceg.blogspot.com/

Since, the students are putting up a blog post everyday about what they did, my newsletters will consist of: important events, important upcoming dates, and important news about Van Allen or our classroom. If you have any questions about the newsletter or the class website, please email me at erceg.lindsey@iccsd.k12.ia.us
The only important news for this week is about the reading homework that will be assigned each week. All team 4 teachers have decided that the students will have a reading goal. In order for team 4 teachers to keep track of each student’s goals and reading minutes, we are providing each student a bookmark. The bookmarks will be given out every Friday. On the bookmark, there are spots to record how much each student reads each night. Also, on the back of the bookmark is a place for each student to write a reading goal. The bookmarks will then be turned back into the teacher (me) the following Friday. Each bookmark that is turned in needs a parent signature. For example, the students are bringing home their bookmarks today. They each have a reading goal and they will record their minutes on their bookmarks. Next Friday, the students will turn in their bookmarks, with a parent signature. If you have any questions please let me know. This will be addressed at the back to school night.

• Monday, September 21 from 6:00-6:45 P.M.- Back to School Night, Team 4
